Koenigsegg

Create a state-of-the-art website that truly matches Koenigsegg's brand and position in the market as innovators and creators with a design that portrays the obsession with minimalism, and efficiency while feeling deeply organic.

Case description

We worked with Koenigsegg to relaunch their brand platform which balanced their rich heritage with repositioning within the market and their plans for the future.
We first worked with Koenigsegg to define their brand strategy before moving into design and development.

Based on Koenigsegg’s brand values we aligned on design principles and formed a creative direction which guided the project. This direction was ‘Purity of thought’ reflecting passion, family and openness, and finally, innovation.

The UI and motion design was created based on these principles; ultimately coming down to a purposeful nature that portrayed obsession with minimalism, and efficiency while feeling deeply organic. We used motion to reward users with small moments of delight.

Case goals and results

Our goals were to inspire a new generation of aficionados while weaving tales of the early days into a seamless story and ultimately create a state-of-the-art website that truly matched Koenigsegg's brand and position in the market as innovators and creators.

Challenges

Koenigsegg came to Superhero Cheesecake (as a part of Media.Monks) with the challenge to design a brand platform that not only would show off their technologies and vehicles in an innovative and engaging manner, but also tell the stories behind the family driven brand and show off the intricate details which go into everything they produce.

Community contributions

No exotic changes or custom modules were required for this project. What is interesting though is that we’ve investigated running Drupal in a fully serverless way for this project on an AWS environment using Lambda, Aurora Serverless and S3. This was part of our sustainability efforts to require less energy for hosting websites. In the end we found that Drupal was not a great type of platform to do this with and in the end we’ve chosen a more traditional setup. The learnings of this investigation are going to be presented in a session at DrupalCon Prague.
